Eurokera Manufacturing Facility Expansion

Cleanroom Manufacturing Area & Management Office Expansion

  • CDG Role: Architect
  • Year Completed: 2007
  • Project Size: $2M

Eurokera, a global leader in the manufacture of glass-ceramic plates, commissioned Context Design Group, PLLC to perform a Building Code Study and A/E Design Services for the renovation at their facility located in the South Chase Industrial Park, Greenville, SC.  Through our team’s exhaustive assessment of their existing 172,000 SF, Eurokera was able to establish and implement a newly revised Site / Facility Masterplan.

Due to sensitive manufacturing processes and exact tolerances, CDG's experience in Cleanroom Design was of special value to Eurokera.  Extreme temperatures used in the creation and manipulation of the glass-ceramic raw materials necessitated provisions for the addition of fire rated walls and occupancy separations.  CDG developed Construction Documents for the expansion consisting of 20,000 SF and acted as Owner Representative during Construction / Implementation Phases of the project.

Additionally, CDG was asked to design and manage the renovation of a multiple existing manufacturing areas to be converted to needed office space supporting the ongoing operation.  Extreme difference in space utilization meant that this area needed to be largely gutted and rebuilt with finishes and construction quality to match existing office context.  Where applicable, spaces and routes were designed to be ADA compliant.
