ACI Industries (an affiliate of Applied Ceramics Inc.) contracted Context Design Group to aid in their transition to a manufacturing facility in Laurens County.
ACI Industries manufactures ceramic honeycomb which is then used in a variety of technologies and applications. The client had no digital documentation of the 84,000SF facility and as such, Context conducted an exhaustive investigation of the existing building. They also needed our team to design and draft plans for renovation. Our relationship with local codes and officials allowed us to efficiently design spaces for special functions such as the chemical labs and kiln areas. Due to the manufacturing process, fire systems, extinguishers, means of egress, and life safety as a whole were a primary concern.
Context Design Group’s experience in these areas formed a solid foundation for all fire related design criteria. This building predates strict governance of ADA design and so, our team of experts helped to retrofit all applicable entrance/exits, bathrooms, and means of travel to achieve compliance.
